Cover photograph


On November 18, 1869, an eighteen-year-old  bride named Annie Chinery married Ewan Cameron. Her mother-in-law was the famous photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, great aunt to Virginia Woolf. Julia took a photograph of Annie which has become well known. ‘THE BRIDE’ is now part of a collection of the Royal Photographic Society.


Annie’s wedding dress is the inspiration for the cover of WOO WOO – the posthumous love story of Miss Emily Carr. Annie’s wedding day was two years before Emily Carr was born.
